Why Huawei eKit for SMB

Small and mid-size businesses need enterprise-grade networking — without the enterprise complexity and without the enterprise price tag. That is exactly what Huawei eKit is built for. Below we explain what eKit is and why it suits a company of fewer than 50 people.

What is Huawei eKit?

Huawei eKit is Huawei's sub-brand for the SMB market and the distribution channel — aimed at companies of up to roughly 50 staff. It sits alongside Huawei-enterprise, which targets the largest organisations instead. eKit takes the opposite approach: the same engineering, packaged for smaller businesses that buy through a reseller or distributor rather than a large project team.

One range, one partner

With eKit your whole business network comes from a single line:

  • FTTR fibre Wi-Fi — MiniFTTO with OptiXstar units brings fibre into every room. See the FTTR units.
  • Switches, access points, routers and firewalls — the eKitEngine line for your wired and wireless network. See the switches and the access points.
  • OceanStor storage — SAN/NAS for backup and virtualisation. See storage.

Why it fits SMB

  • Enterprise-grade engineering at SMB scale — the same engineering as the large line, priced and sized for smaller businesses.
  • Central cloud management via Huawei NCE — manage switches, Wi-Fi and FTTR from one place, without a separate management server per site.
  • Genuine products — no grey imports, just Huawei eKit hardware through the official channel.
  • Delivery in 2 working days via official distributors.

Why not just use a mesh system?

Mesh and repeaters share a single wireless channel: every hop costs speed and stability. FTTR runs fibre to every room — wired-grade reliability, without new cable ducting thanks to Power-over-Fiber, and with one management layer for the whole network. Compared with consumer brands, eKit gives you business-grade delivery, specs and datasheets, and a range that spans FTTR, switches, firewalls and storage from a single line.

Honest answers to critical questions

Huawei raises questions. Rightly so — network equipment deserves scrutiny. So we answer the most common objections here, openly.

Isn't Huawei banned in Europe?

No. European and Dutch measures concerning Huawei target 5G core networks at telecom operators — the infrastructure a country's phone traffic runs through. That is a different domain from the Wi-Fi, switches and fibre inside your business premises. Business networking gear like eKit is not banned: it ships through official European distributors, CE-marked, with EU invoicing and European warranty.

Is my business data safe?

Your network traffic stays on your premises: FTTR and eKit equipment form your local network, not a cloud service your data must pass through. Central management via the app or Huawei NCE is optional — you can also run the network fully on-premises. And as with any business network, you set the firewall rules, who gets access, and what leaves the building.

Why not a European or American brand?

You can — there are solid European and American networking brands, usually at a considerably higher price per site. But be honest about the yardstick: the laptop or iPhone you are reading this on is "designed in California" and built in China, like the vast majority of networking hardware — whatever brand is on the box. The real question is not where something was built, but whether you buy it through an official channel, whether your data stays under your control, and whether the technology is worth the money. On those three points we are happy to be held to account. And specifically for fibre-to-every-room (FTTR), Huawei is simply the company that made this technology affordable for small business.

What if the rules ever change?

Your equipment runs inside your own network and keeps working — there is no subscription or mandatory cloud service that can be switched off remotely. Firmware and support run through the official European distribution channels.

Why is it priced so sharply?

No trick: eKit is Huawei's SMB product line, backed by the scale of one of the world's largest network builders. You pay for the technology, not the logo.
